Welcome Home!
I’m Renata Mosci Sanfourche and this is
a newsletter about everything I do in my apartment instead of writing my book.
Why should you care?
Well, you shouldn’t care too much, but wouldn’t it be nice if I could remind you once a week about some things that are happening outside of your ordinary scroll? Think of it like the weekend papers, something that will get you out of your daily routine and keep you looped into some interesting extra curricular stuff like literature, design, art, photography, film, music (and all for free).
Let me put it another way…
This Substack is legal stalking at its finest, like being a fly inside my house when I’m alone and when I’m not…people will be coming over. 🐝
Once a week you’ll receive a newsletter on either one of these topics:
Chronicles
Curated lists of new articles, essays, and interviews I read and found interesting enough to share with you (and podcasts too).
Research material I use to supplement something I’m studying, like extra readings and essay on any given writer (right now I’m reading Whitman and Emerson).
Film, poetry, music, and a visual library of images that inspire me.
Children’s books my daughter is reading and music my husband is listening to.
Design Auctions
Items in art and design auctions happening around the world. Why? Because scrolling through them gives me a break when I need it the most.
The Guest List
Anything my guests are into, a list of things on their minds right now.
Who am I?
I’m a writer working on my first novel after leaving a very fun career as a journalist a little bit behind. I was an editor at the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal before I fell in love with a French man, moved to Paris, and served as the deputy editor at Mastermind Magazine. Before all of this I was at Los Angeles Magazine and Marie Claire. You may have seen some of my stories in Holiday and Icon, two publications I contribute to regularly from my desk in Paris.
Some career highlights? I conducted the last interview with Karl Lagerfeld before he passed away, it was a conversation between him and Leila Slimani at his bookstore in Paris. I’ve also had the honor of interviewing Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani.
I’ve spent my life wanting to write a novel and I’ve finally decided it’s time to finish it, and the good news is that I’m not too far from it.
Who am I really?
I’m a nerd. I read a lot and I like to geek out on the content I’m consuming. I’m a big fan of Virginia Woolf, Marguerite Duras, and Clarice Lispector. My favorite director is Maurice Pialat and I have very weird taste in music. I’ve always been an immigrant. I moved 18 times by the time I was going to college. I grew up between the United States and Brazil, and now I live in Paris. I’m terrible in the kitchen but I’m good at cleaning. I was a tomboy growing up. Therapy saved my life. I’m a mother. I’m married. I like hunting for good finds in auctions and in flea markets. I don’t have a good filter. I’m a very transparent and happily vulnerable person.
I’m not ready to delete my Instagram.
